hello again

is this year flying by for you like it is for me? i mean really, is it already march? it sure doesn't feel like it outside though. hey mother nature...just because al gore is full of hot air, it doesn't mean you have to punish the rest of us with this wet and cold winter. i think you've done enough.

the other night i was reading my bud TK's blog (found here TK's Blog ) and saw a video he put together of him using long exposure and a LED flashlight. it was amazing, and inspiring. i had forgotten how much fun long exposures can be...except when you are doing a self portrait and trying to stay still and stay sharp in the shot. which is exactly what i had in mind for my 365 shot today. i'd say it took me well over an hour and maybe close to 100 shots to get what i thought could pass for the album.  for all you photogs out there, i had to find a happy medium between a long enough exposure to blur the LED and staying still enough to stay sharp. the final shot came to be a 1.3sec exposure, which still had me holding my breath trying to be a statue. it's still not quite as sharp as i'd like it, but that'll do pig, that'll do.

so if anyone had any doubts that this wasn't real or thought it was photoshoped...that's just not the case. i shot it fair and square.

did i mention i'm ready for spring. i am.

Congo gets a new addition

yesterday was great. got to sleep in, watch an interesting documentary about a possible Jackson Pollock painting that a foul mouth old trucker lady bought at a thrift store for $5. she even turned down a 9 million dollar offer for the painting. she's nuts. so after the movie it was time for a caffeine boost. off to starbucks for a vanilla latte at 140°. yes, i'm a latte snob that has a temp request. i know. the coffee was not only to boost my awareness but also to warm me from the inside out because i was on my way to a photoshoot with my cousins and it was freezing outside. and because of my love for natural lighting, i wanted to shoot outside. Sarah and Sus are hilarious and troopers for letting me photograph them in the snow, wind, and cold. They both have such an incredible spirit and their smiles are infectious. Sus wanted some pictures with Sarah before she left the country and Sarah wanted to be able to show all her new friends in Congo her family. Sarah is going to be a nurse in a hospital in Congo for the rest of the year but first she has to go to Paris to learn french. they speak french in Congo so she will be learning the language for the next 4 weeks in the city of lights. follow her blog at CONGO BOUND , i will be. we'll all miss you Sarah.

winter wonderland wedding picture editing

today i awoke to snow too deep for my car to drive in. so with my car tucked nicely in the garage i get a chance to sit in front of the dual monitors and get to crankin' on the pictures from the wedding i had the opportunity to shoot this past saturday.  it was a small and simple wedding, but simply beautiful. The groom and his side of the family were Irish, and i don't mean kinda. They flew from Ireland to be there. it was awesome. The bride was stunning in her dress and the groom was smiling from ear to ear. It was a great wedding, and i was thrilled to have been a part of it.

here's a sample from the wedding, there will be more to come once i go through them all.

forgive me fans...

...for it has been 40 days since my last blog entry.

and in that time much has passed. christmas. new years. and many days of coldness with some snow. i've gotten a speeding ticket. possibly broke a toe. stopped eating fast-food. started drinking V-8 every morning. bit my lip. twice. and upgraded my phone. which brings me to my blog today. i just have to tell you how awesome my new phone is.  for those of you that don't know, i was due for an upgraded phone at the begining of january. and i had a long debate with myself about geting either the blackberry tour or the newest motorola droid. after much thought, youtube video reviews, friend recommendations ect. i went with the DROID! and i don't think i could be happier. this thing does it all. and i do mean ALL. i've only had the phone for a few days and i'm still learning how to use it, and finding all the cool aps, but let me just say. WOW. email at my fingertips is the main reason for getting the phone, but along with that i now have facebook and twitter in my pocket. so, if you're on twitter... follow me so i can follow you : nickrkey anyways, i love this phone, if you have it you know what i mean. droid, you're the best.
